This is a five day course. Mechanical Pneumatics studies the theory of compressed air, pneumatic components and circuits, and the differences and similarities between air and oil. Discussions of theory include the gas laws (Pascal, Boyles, Charles, and Bernoulli). Components discussed include compressors, receivers, dryers, filters, regulators, lubricators, valves, cylinders and motors. Overall system pressure and volume controls, contamination control, and efficiency are also discussed. Hands-on lab exercises include the use of various components and the building of specific circuits. Circuits include a rapid traverse and feed, sequencing circuit, and others. The development of troubleshooting skills is an essential aspect of this course.
